2020-21 New Year Critical Info

Crimson View Families,

This is a unique and challenging time as we look forward to the new school year beginning. You can find the WCSD Reopening plan at: https://www.washk12.org/district/district-blog/415-2020-21-reopening-of-schools-plan

WCSD has created a survey to help us as we plan for the school year. Please take the time to thoughtfully complete this survey at your earliest convenience! The survey will close at 11:59pm on Sunday, August 2.
Survey Link: http://go.washk12.org/wcsd2020 (you’ll need to complete the survey separately for each child attending K-12 WCSD Schools)

Obviously, many of you have questions and we’re doing our very best to anticipate and figure out all the answers. Personally, I’m excited to be planning for students to return to school!

Here are a few of the anticipated changes you’ll see at Crimson View as we begin this 2020-21 school year:
·   Masks: Students will be expected to wear a face covering throughout the day. I’m hopeful that this will be a short term requirement. WCSD will provide two masks to each student. I would encourage each of you to try different face coverings, figure out which ones work the best for you and your student(s) so that they can be comfortable here at school. Bottom line, I want students to be in school! Our school staff will do all we can to promote social distancing, good hygiene, and the wearing of a face covering throughout the school day so that we can stay in school.
·   Classrooms:  Desks will be spread apart as much as we can and students will be facing away from one another. Students should bring a water bottle from home and use their water bottle throughout the day instead of the school drinking fountains.
·   Lunch: The lunch schedule will be stretched out so that only one grade level is in the lunchroom at a time. Students will sit with more spacing. Lunch tables will be sanitized between classes.
·   Pickup and Dropoff:  Crimson View has a system in place for drive-through drop off and pickup. Please follow directions, please be patient in line, also be alert and safe. If you need to get out of your car, please park in the parking lot and use the crosswalks.
·   Cleaning and Disinfecting: Our custodial staff as well as teachers will be cleaning and disinfecting throughout the day. High touch points (door knobs, counters, etc.) will be cleaned multiple times each day.
·   Symptoms: If your child is not feeling well or shows symptoms of any kind do not send them to school. If a child develops symptoms after they arrive at school we will notify parents to come and pick their child up.
·   First Day of School and Back to School Night: We will not be having a traditional back to school night. Individual teachers will send their new class a video or presentation so students can meet their teacher virtually. Parents will get to meet the teacher and visit with them one-on-one in the classroom during the first full week of school at the student’s testing appointment. On the first day of school, we ask that students line up by their teacher’s door on the outside of the building.

I hope that each of you are excited for school to begin. I’ve been meeting with teachers and school staff in anticipation of the new school year, we are all excited to have students back in our building! We’re excited to learn and grow together!

I look forward to seeing each of you on Aug 13!
